Arapahoe County Celebrates Earth Day

Friday, April 22

Arapahoe County's Welch Park and Cheyenne/Arapaho Park were spruced up with new trees, thanks to the work of volunteers and staff. A total of 16 trees were planted after the County received a grant from the Mile High Million Tree Initiative. These neighborhood parks are popular with residents in unincorporated Arapahoe County better known as the Four Square Mile area. Once grown, trees will provide shade for summer heat, reduce CO2 emissions and offer refuge for local wildlife. To learn more about the County's Open Space program, visit www.co.arapahoe.co.us and sign up to receive the Open Space newsletter.
